Robert Mugabe is the first post-independence leader and has died as an icon at the age of 95.
As an icon of liberation, and a pan-Africanist, He dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten.
And as the president of Zimbabwe Mugabe served as Prime Minister for 37 years in his time.
Robert Mugabe was first heralded as a liberator who rid the former British colony of Rhodesia of white minority rule, later he used repression and fear to hold on to power in Zimbabwe for more than three decades until he was finally ousted by his previously loyal military generals.
May his soul rest in peace.
